Private Residence

Located on a dry creek and adjoining several thousand acres of national forest, this two-bedroom home started as a heavy-timber shed used for off-road vehicle storage. Nestled into the hillside, its red stucco echoes the indigenous red rock of the area. It was owner-built and incorporates a pellet stove and a swamp-cooler into its HVAC scheme. The flat roof can be accessed directly from the hillside and is used as a dojo by the owner, an aikido instructor.
