Hinsdale Theater

This project is a study for the renovation of a landmark theater in the central district of a Chicago suburb. Its landmark status comes from a shared community memory of its role as the local movie house. The long, narrow seating of the original theater will be shortened with the addition of a balcony, freeing areas for a second venue and a cafe. An existing exit court between the theater and a neighboring building will provide a skylit entryway independent of the streetfront cafe.
